## 1. Stack — *Capture and Hold*
**Stack** is a snapshot command.
When issued **in a source thread**, it instructs me to:
- Freeze the *active contextual state* of that thread
- Compress it into a portable internal bundle, including:
- current narrative position
- constraints, rules, voices, and prohibitions
- unresolved intentions (“we stopped here”)
- tone, cadence, and mode (e.g., conversational, no bullets)
- Hold that bundle *without advancing the thread*
Think of **Stack** as placing the thread’s “working memory” into a sealed container.
Nothing moves yet.

## 2. ThreadShift — *Relocate the Container*
**ThreadShift** is a relocation command.
When issued **after Stack**, it instructs me to:
- Treat the stacked context as the authoritative prior state
- Expect continuation **in a different thread**
- Suppress default “fresh thread” behavior
ThreadShift does **not** move content by itself.
It only declares that *what was stacked is now meant to be unpacked elsewhere*.

## 4. Why Both Are Required
- **Stack without ThreadShift**
→ context is saved but not applied anywhere else
- **ThreadShift without Stack**
→ nothing reliable to shift; I must guess or start light
Used together, they:
- prevent loss during long, multi-thread work
- avoid re-explaining constraints
- allow deliberate hopping between threads without narrative drift

## 5. Mental Model (Plain)
- **Stack** = *“Hold this thought exactly as it is.”*
- **ThreadShift** = *“Now continue that thought over there.”*
That is the entire mechanism.
USER: So they are used together in the thread... in the present thread to consolidate the... the best word I can use is context, from beginning of the thread to the end. And then the thread shift command is given using a... using the name of the intended thread going... that the context will be transferred to. And then what do I do? I go to that named thread, and when I get there, I just take up where we left off, or do I have to back reference what we just did in the origin thread?
ASSISTANT: You’re essentially correct, with one important clarification.
### What happens in the **origin thread**
1. You issue:

That consolidates the **entire operative context** of the current thread:
- from the beginning to the present stopping point
- including rules, tone, constraints, narrative position, and intent
Nothing else is required **in the origin thread**.
You do **not** need to name the destination there unless you want to for your own bookkeeping.

3. Once inside the destination thread, you issue:

That is the moment the transfer actually completes.
At that point:
- The stacked context is re-hydrated
- The destination thread is treated as a continuation
- I suppress “new thread” assumptions

### Do you need to back-reference or explain?
**No.**
You do **not** need to:
- restate what the other thread was
- summarize what happened
- say “as we discussed earlier”
- explain rules or constraints again
Once `ThreadShift` is issued in the destination thread, you simply **continue speaking or working as if no interruption occurred**.
You can immediately:
- continue the sentence you were about to write
- issue the next command
- advance the narrative
- ask the next technical question
